Regrets#1

Is this a house or a shed
Where memories of our past have faded?
Is this painting the same
Which when bought, glittered with all it's fame?
Is this cusion still as soft as it was
When you and me jumped on it so hard and fast!
Is this room the same
Where we once used to fight
With all our vehemence?

That fridge still lies there
But has no one to steal it's food from there.
That bell still hangs,
And awaits to be rung.
When we jump and play, with all our joy and fun.
The piano still waits and waits
To hear it's tone although it's late
Amidst those dark days of rain and solitude
Where you and me, once with our little fingers
Used to compose songs in multitude.
It plays no more and is not heard
Yet I hear it say, come on, it's your turn.

Our gallery still remains the same with our creations
Yet devoid of it's creators.
Out little playroom is now a store room
And the old toys, have been thrown away by a broom.
That bore our memories of childhood.

The pictures still hang on the wall
Where we still smile so hard, that we would fall.
Yet, no one to see them anymore
And cherish the memories it bore.

We still have everything in place,
Yet we lack that grace
Of our relation.
Things are still so close and yet so far
To indicate that  we have drifted apart.
Are you still my brother?
Or have you forgotten that you share some relation with me either!
Regrets they are, and they shall be
Unless expressed to you fully!

Happy Independence Day

Yesterday, it was the 15th of August. A proud moment for all my Indian as well as Korean friends as on this day, these two countries had received independence from foreign domination. Don't really know about Korea, but in India, this day was celebrated. Celebrated? Is that the right word which I am using now?
I belong from a small city in West Bengal in India. Its Durgapur. And even in a small city like this, I had seen flag hoists organized by the people living in practically each and every streets. So, going by normal views, shouldn't we come to the conclusion that we Indians are too nationalistic and are proud of our nation,we  organize flag hoists, sing the national Anthem, observe a moment of silence for all those who had laid down their lives to achieve this status.. bla bla bla. I am afraid i need to use this term bla here because this is nothing but sheer pretence. Does singing the National Anthem, observing a moment of silence and so on and so forth really show how proud are we of our nation. Truth be told, this is just a picture which vividly shows that yeah, I am an Indian. On the strike of midnight of  15th of August,in 1947,  the famous personality Mr. Jawaharlal Nehrue, a famous politician of the time had declared that our country is no more dominated by the ruthless Britishers after sacrificing so much. That was the day of historical importance.

Today, even after 67 years of independence, on the arrival of the 15th of August, we  repeat the same actions to show respect towards our national flag and towards the nation. Is respect all that a nations needs on the 15th of August? Is it not important to love your nation every single day? Isn't it our job to be proud of the fact that yes, we are Indians everyday? Then why show on a single day or rather only on two specific days in an year( the 15th of august and on the 26th of January)? Is their any hard and fast rule that you can be nationalistic only on these two specific days and abuse the people of India and its conditions in the rest?
Is that all our Nationalistic attitude means to us?
Again, 67 years back, when India had finally become free of Foreign domination, true that not only did the leaders of a newly born independent country dream of a better India, but all the commoners dreamt of it too. Are we really better off today? Well this is one of the best debatable topics which one can discuss among his 'debate lover' friends. Some would say,"Yes ofcourse! We have developed a lot. What don't we have in India today? Starting from Bridges to roads to hi-tech machinery to concerned government, shopping malls! Perhaps, the list continues!" Some would say" despite of the economic development, surely many people have benefited. Yet, how can we forget about those who find no place in the society? How can we not remember those people who contribute to the society, work for the society yet remain suppressed by hypocrites? Surely, India has gone down the scale in terms of its morale" . Well, as far as the debate is concerned, most of us would be in support of the development in the country. Would we even bother to look at the other aspect poverty, raging anger, misconduct of powers, abuse, crime and perhaps activities which harm the society and are increasing everyday on the scale? Most of us wont.
Someone had said," look at the bigger and brighter aspect. Do not focus on the negatives". True it is. But, does that solve the problem of the society? Can it feed those  who starve to death everyday? Can it satisfy those who dont even have the luck to drink pure and clean water? Surely it wont. And we dont bother to ponder over these questions.
Yet, a person, who would be a true Indian at heart, wont just love and respect the Indian flag, but will repsect all its people and moreover love them too. He will strive to achieve perfection in anything he does as was once dreamt by the revolutionary poet Rabindranath Tagore. A true Indian will not remain suppressed  by the hypocrites but will be brave enough to show that he has the courage to protest against all the evils of the society. A true citizen will try to make every tiny aspect which concerns his mother India perfect. He would be a true son of the country.
Back in the 1940s, social evils existed in the form of Sati, child marriage, female infanticide, society stratification, demeaning the poor and the list goes on. Is it any better today? Today, in the 21st 'modern' society, these evils still exist but some have been replaced by Rape, murders, sexual abuse and once again the list goes on. A true Indian will not be afraid to raise his voice against   someone who is a victim of these evils and does not have any blood relation with him. What do we do after the flag hoist in every street of India? Fold it, pack it up and throw it away in some store room. Or even a worse scenario, we see them lying on the roads just as the sun of the same day goes below the horizon. And then, the hooligans find an ocassion to celebrate by moving around and spending extravagantly . Is this the sign of a true Indian?
After so many years, we have come across our current elected Prime Minister who is not bothered of his safety and is concerned about his people. He isn't bothered of having bullet resisting enclosures while he is delivering his speech but is concerned to enlighten the people of the country of his policies to create a better India. We can expect him to be a true son of the country if he doesnt choose to rely on the fame and forget his responsibilities.
Lastly, quoting some of the famous lines from one of my favorite poem composed by Rabindranath Tagore:
"Where the mind is without fear and the head held high
where knowledge is free
where the world has not been broken into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where the clear stream of logic
has not lost its way into the dreary desert of dead habit"

...
True it is. And I feel, each and every India should try achieving the above aims as stated by this famous poet .
Then what is it to do with any other Independence day or Republic Day, each and every day can be celebrated with the developing nationalistic attitude of people, in love with their nation!
With this hope, I  wish everyone a Happy Independence Day!

The way to look at someone...changes..why so!

In this piece of blog, I would mention cases which concern many of us. ' the way to look at people changes", what's the reason behind this change? Do people have definite reasons for changing the way they used to look at someone once upon a time? Most of us don't.
And when this way of looking at someone concerns both the persons, one ends up getting frustrated and the other ends up ditching the first one. What is the end result? Does any side benifit from all this?
Surely, all of you must have guessed that I am speaking of teenage infatuations here. Yeah, teenage infatuations, perhaps one of the most researched topics by various scientists. Yet, feeling it is a complete different story I feel. Yet at some point of time, how does the definition of love change? How does the person change? How can we replace that person with someone else so very easily? Is love replaceable ?
Let's take a common example of a teenage girl.
A girl in her early fifteen , probably any other girl like me. She has some infatuation for a boy, who is even in his early fifteen. The girl likes him a lot or even claims to 'love' him.  Slowly, even the boy starts feeling for that girl. Please note that here we are speaking of infatuations and not 'love' ( although they might claim to love each other a lot) . They get into a relation and spend some happy moments . After a couple of months, you hear that they broke off due to some very silly reason. Who was benifitted by all this? Was this all just for fun? Should love be taken that casually? According to any standard dictionary, love is nothing but the fondness for a person which can be felt for your own father mother, relative or any other third person. Yet, the feeling for a third person is something which is new and amuses us, how can someone take it so casually then? Don't you think this changes the entire concept of love? Does this really mean that a teenage girl cannot really love a boy? Now by that love, I mean possessing real feelings for someone which would be utter devotion, trust, hope and filled with patience. Does few hugs and kisses define love? Or it is really felt at heart? When should a teenage girl understand that yes, she has really fallen in love which is long lasting ??
Isn't it sad that sometimes you just can't say what you feel for the other person truly?
Result: thinking love to be a curse!
Just a mere misconception, just a few uncontrolled feelings can spoil the concept of love, which is essential for any relation. It amazes all of us that how can some misconceptions change the definition of love or even try to redefine it? Is love a relative concept? Is it a crime loving someone?
Ouestions unanswered always enclose the mystery of this beautiful concept! Have we even tried exploring it?
One cannot do so unless he or she has a lot or trust and patience within and hence, patience and trust are the main ingredients of any sort of healthy relationship!

Introducing Ankita Thakur

Hey! I am Ankita. I am an introvert. Not that I fancy calling myself  that. But believe me, I hardly do care. My friends might contradict this idea of mine, claiming me to be a very happy, jolly and curious person, but then, does outer appearance tell everything about a person? I don't think so!
Analysing my character I have seen various changes in me, some good while some very very bad changes, which have changed my life, the way I look at life completely.
Firstly, I have eventually turned into being an easy going person. Mind it, not casual or careless, but just easy going!. The inner me has become easy going. It just doesn't bother to moan over my humiliating past and my well to do present. It simply sets small goals and plans out ways by which they can be achieved! That's it, no big deal, just small goals which have to be achieved in my life! That doesn't really mean I do not have any aspirations or any ambitions in my life. I am highly ambitious!. But I prefer to hide them and do my job so that I do not drift away from my path to accomplish all those dreams one by one!
What's the use of being a very serious person?... No use!
Secondly: true! I am a jolly person indeed. Yet, there's a huge reason behind it! Just think about it, what's the point in being sad when you remain completely unnoticed? What's the use of confining yourself to that sorrow which gives you a lot of pain?
UTTERLY, NO USE!
I remember a saying here" it takes 4 muscles to smile but 16 muscles to frown", yes, indeed that is the principle which I now follow in my life. Smile as hard, as much as possible. Come what may, a constant smile shall be there on my face forever. Even if it does not cheer me up, it will indeed help to protect myself from the intentional, curious people from their useless questions to know the reason of my sorrow, thereby making a fuss about it! They cause a mayhem regarding our sorrow. What's the use of having such friends who just pretend to be supporting us?
FIE UPON YOU LOOSER! YOU ARE AN USELESS ENTITY ON EARTH!
I strongly believe, if a person cannot support another person, he is perhaps worthless.and believe me, I just don't care of such people as they shall be forgotten easily. They play no role in my life!
Satisfaction: what's that?.. What is it really like??.. Don't you think it to be a relative concept? well I think it to be so! With every dream achieved, aspirations multiply..and hence satisfaction runs away, miles away from us!. And what do we do?.. Chasing them like mindless athletes without even bothering to look around us once, to see what else can give us satisfaction, the feeling that we are complete, we are on the seventh heaven!
Thirdly: I am a friendly girl! Although the world is filled with hypocrites, yet I believe, it is not that hard to find some true friends, someone who is worthy to be called a friend, someone who is always there beside you and is a part of your life! Luckily, I have found such friends in my life! Yet, being friendly with hypocrites does make me sad, yet it teaches me how to handle them and teach them the various ways in which life is looked at, not only from their negative point of view!.. It gives me lessons of life!
WHAT ELSE??.. Yes, I am friendly, jolly, hope for the best and have got a positive outlook towards life. There's no point in looking back at your past with disgust and looking forward to your future with fear, but it's necessary to look at your present, feel your present, live and love your present and make it as useful and fruitful as possible!
Yeah, i am courageous. This is the one good point in me which I can proudly say. I am not afraid to face challenges. Come what may, I will face them under any circumstances!
But, after all this, I just don't know how to handle some kind of people. I cannot control my wrath, I get mindless and mechanical while trying to do any job as fast as possible. Life has taught me several times that there's no shortcut to success, yet my heart doesn't really want to accept it.
From here, I have understood that success is not just following the herd and achieve something which the herd achieves. But, it is something which you have achieved and had long desired for ! Completing and fulfilling goals is in itself a successful event!. I do enjoy every moment when I am successful!.although less, but I feel happy!
What's next: I can't tolerate people who pretend to be good, stylish, trendy etc etc etc. Com'on man, be yourself!. Atleast you will not have to remember the different ways,  rules and regulations of pretending to be someone else. Acting is good but overacting can become heinous for the health!
If you would be reading this so long a description, I definitely do love you. I believe you have got that patience to become a silent listener and hence you are a supportive person!  Welcome to my world buddy!!
Lastly, I think I can change the world. It's not a one man job or a job which can be completed in a fortnight!. Yet, when I have an initiative to change the world, I am sure, it will atleast make some difference to the society. I believe the society, the world needs a little love to get better. What's the harm in spreading a little love and making your society trust on you?
I think there's no harm in doing this
Can I change the world?... Well..when there is a will, there is a way! And if I have a will, there will have to be a way to change it!.. If not change it, atleast be a pioneer of its change...
Friends..come join me if you wish to. That's because UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL!
We all can do this, we all can change ourselves and the society around us.
Why not do it then??
That's me, Ankita Thakur!
